Brown and Buffalo Fire Department Commissioner Garnell Whitfield Jr. today announced the city’s 2011 class of fire recruits. “I congratulate the new firefighter recruits on making it to the training academy. I know they will train diligently and help to make our Buffalo Fire Department strong,” said Mayor Brown. “The entire department serves our residents with great dedication and professionalism. I wish the recruits the best of luck.” There are 35 firefighter recruits in the 2011 class. During his tenure, Mayor Brown has brought 119 firefighters (three recruit classes) into the department. The recruits will enter the training academy, which begins Monday, April 18, 2011 and lasts two and a half months.
