Cutler Director of Communications 716-851-4841 Popularity of neighborhood special events require 30-day notice BUFFALO – Mayor Byron W. Brown today issued a reminder to all City of Buffalo residents that City Departments require thirty (30) days notice to process street closing permits for block parties and special events. This new process was implemented last August in an effort to streamline the permitting process and ensure that all requests are processed efficiently. “We anticipate another beautiful summer in Buffalo and I encourage people to spend time outdoors and to interact with family, friends and neighbors,” said Mayor Brown. “One of the best things about a Buffalo summer is all of the organized activities that take place throughout the city. Each year, I look forward to attending block club parties and festivals, and I’m sure our city residents do as well. By planning ahead and submitting the proper permit forms in a timely manner, our staff can properly assist all organizations that wish to hold block parties and other outdoor neighborhood events.” Residents can obtain a street closing permit application on the City of Buffalo’s website at www.city-buffalo.com or visit Room 512 City Hall. Please note there is a $12 per block processing fee for block parties. For special events, the fee is $25 for the first block and $15 for each additional block. If you have any questions, please contact the traffic department at 716-851-3566. I hope you have a safe and fun summer, and thank you for all that you have done and continue to do, to make Buffalo a wonderful place to live. |
