MAYOR BROWN PARTICIPATES IN PRESTIGIOUS WALL STREET PROJECT ECONOMIC SUMMIT

 

BUFFALO—Mayor Byron W. Brown this week traveled to New York City to be a panelist during the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition’s 10^th Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit, headed by Rev. Jesse Jackson.

 

“This Summit was an excellent opportunity to highlight the programs and initiatives we have established in Buffalo, and also to learn about programs offered in other communities,” said Mayor Brown. “By attending these type of national conferences, we can exchange ideas and meet with leaders in business, government and industry and learn first-hand how various successful programs were conceived and implemented in different sections of the country. I will always take advantage of the chance to discuss how we are continuing to make progress in Buffalo, expanding economic development opportunities and strengthening our tax base.”

 

The Mayor participated in two round tables: The Civil Rights Movement 40 Years Later-Greenlining Red lined America, and Policy and Urban Renewal, discussing economic development and programs that are offered by the City of Buffalo, The Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, and the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation.

 

Also participating in the round tables with Mayor Brown were several other Mayors from across the country, key members of Congress, including Representatives Charles Rangel and John Conyers, economic development experts such as John Taylor of The National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and members of the business community including John D. Hofmeister, President of Shell Oil.
