Comptroller SanFilippo Reappoints Fishkin As Deputy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact:  Tony Farina, 851-5255

Buffalo City Comptroller Andy SanFilippo announced today that he has reappointed Darby Fishkin as deputy comptroller effective Aug. 11, replacing Jeannette Mongold who resigned last month to take the position of executive director of the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority.

“We’re very fortunate to be able to bring Darby back at this time,” said Comptroller SanFilippo.  “We lost a great deputy in Jeannette, but we’ll be able to keep right on going with Darby’s return.  She knows the city and the finances very well, and we were just very fortunate that she became available at this time.”

Ms. Fishkin, a CPA and former senior accountant with Ernst & Young, served as deputy comptroller from July of 2004 to October of 2007 when she left to join Kaleida Health as corporate controller.

Ms. Fishkin has master’s degrees in accounting and business administration from Canisius College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Buffalo State College.

“I very much enjoyed my time with Kaleida and being a part of the excitement that’s going on right now with the collaboration between Kaleida and ECMC,” said Ms. Fishkin.  “But I am looking forward to returning to government service and working with Comptroller SanFilippo and his staff on continuing to improve the city’s financial health.  I really enjoyed my previous experience as deputy and I’m excited about coming back home.”

Ms. Fishkin is married and lives with her husband and two children in Buffalo.
